New Asian Village Buffet

Very very delicious! We went along to the buffet serving and got our own little room of couches to sit in. The buffet was large and full of choices. All your favorite Indian menu items. I had tandoor chicken, rice, naan bread, butter chicken, potatoes, veggies and lots more. I had two servings and everything was delicious. Some things looked as though they might have been there for a while, and I often question the quality of buffet food. Some things were a bit oily then I would have liked. The desserts were only two choices, a mango custard and a sweet bread ball (obviously I've made those names up sorry!) and they were both great. The service was a bit strange. They didn't explain how things worked properly, and they cleaned the table off and brought the bill before we had a chance to even get to the desserts, then we couldn't find where the desserts were? I would certainly go back here.

High Tea

We first tried here to go to the High Tea on Saturday. Blair is an avid High Tea lover and we have sampled them around the world. There are only a handful of places that do High Tea in Edmonton and at $25 a person this is certainly the most reasonably priced. You have to book the high tea in advance and they only service groups of 6 and smaller between the hours of 3-5pm on Friday and Saturday. 

We each got to pick a pot of tea each from a large selection. The first taste was a lovely cool soup which I enjoyed but was too salty for Blair, followed by a selection of faced sandwiches with an interesting mix of flavours and some combinations I had never tried before but loved. The last taste was a mix of their delicious desserts in mini form. A great way to try everything they offer and then get a big one next time your nearby! 

We have since been back four times, which for us is a record. It is one of the best coffees you can get in town and all the salads, desserts and sandwiches we've tried have been lovely. Sometimes the servings are a bit small so don't expect a big hardy meal. 

The service can be a bit touch and go, the waiters are lovely but often very slow and a tad forgetful.

ATMOSPHERE/SERVICE: 8 out of 10

This place was on the show "you gotta eat here" and it's a popular place! I went on the weekend around 10am and there was a line out the door the whole time I was there. I only waited about 10mins and was served very quickly. Despite it being a full house the waiter was very friendly and attentive. I got the above salmon eggs and a smoothie. Very very yummy, a bit expensive but worth it. Nice and warm and all the flavors were full and worked well together. The menu is limited with only a few items but I would definitely go again.
